Swingin’ with J.J. Johnson

An intermediate to advanced class focused on the technique, compositions and stylings of trombonist J.J. Johnson. Universally recognized as one of the major innovators of the instrument, the study of his music is a must for jazz trombone. The class will focus on playing solo transcriptions, chord theory and an in-depth study of scale study. Repertoire will be drawn from bebop, swing, blues and modal styles covering the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. (Class is also open to violin, viola and cello.) Bring your instrument!
