David Gutiérrez has studied flamenco guitar in both the United States and Spain since 1973. Keith Johnson (Trumpet)
Keith Johnson currently serves as Director of the Jazzschool Young Musicians Program. A member of the Jazzschool faculty since 2006, he is the founder and director of the award-winning Jazzschool Studio Bands now entering their fourth season. In addition to his work at the Jazzschool, Keith is also Director of Jazz Activities at El Cerrito High School and is completing a Bachelor of Music degree on trumpet at San Jose State University under Dr. Edward C. Harris and Dr. Aaron Lington. Prior to his appointments at the Jazzschool and El Cerrito High School, Keith served as Director of Jazz Bands at Portola Middle School from 2003-2006. Under his astute leadership, the Portola jazz ensembles gained wide recognition and high accolades at jazz festivals throughout Northern California, Nevada and Canada. His efforts at Portola Middle School earned him the Satsuki Arts Festival Community Service Award in 2004 and public recognition by the West Contra Costa Unified School District School Board in 2006.
